Tukwila Transit Center

This inviting and accessible transit center takes the first critical steps to transforming the Tukwila Urban Center into a walkable, livable community.  A suite of improvements enhance the pedestrian experience and safety on Andover Park West. These include pedestrian spaces at the transit stops, a new major crosswalk, landscaped refuges at key locations, and sidewalk redesign. Native Pacific Northwest plantings buffer the sidewalks for a sense of comfort and patterns of vegetation aid in navigation. Tree-canopies on the landscape medians and along the sidewalk will reach toward each other to visually reduce the scale of the roadway. The streetscape design develops a language for urban landscapes unique to Tukwila Urban Center and establishes a framework to meet Tukwila’s goal of developing a pedestrian friendly community.
