The design for this light rail station responds to the specific requirements of multiple jurisdictions. The project is located in the City of Tukwila, also borders the City of SeaTac along SR99, and is under the jurisdiction of WSDOT along SR518. The light rail station’s two parking lots and site landscape provides a visual statement to complement the specific architectural expression of the station.
In conjunction with design for the station, Nakano Associates evaluated and redesigned the streetscape of Southcenter Boulevard including sidewalk and median landscaping. The tree and shrub layout allows for maximum visibility while providing year-round interest. The design responds to the specific requirements of multiple jurisdictions including Tukwila, SeaTac, and WSDOT, and features drought-tolerant planting.
