Roxanne Glick was the Nakano Associates marketing coordinator in 2014 and 2015. Working at the firm confirmed her interest in landscape architecture and with the firm’s blessing, she is currently pursuing a masters in landscape architecture at University of Washington.

This week the Urbanist published an article Roxanne wrote based on her Valle Scholarship research in Denmark. The article overviews models of community-owned housing and how we can learn from Denmark’s ongoing successes and challenges.

Understanding economic and political systems and movements underlying community-owned housing forms the basis for Roxanne’s masters thesis on design that supports community ownership. This work can better equip designers to develop urban affordable homeownership options in alignment with the communities, commoning practices and resources that are at their core.
