Seola Gardens

Housing and Parks

Seola Gardens is a low-impact, sustainable redevelopment of World War II-era public housing. The housing features low-income, workforce and senior rentals, and market rate for-sale units, surrounding activated park spaces and trails. Nakano Associates provided landscape design for the parks, housing units and streetscapes.

A central neighborhood park is at the heart of community with play equipment, a plaza and planted areas. Another large park at the North end has additional play equipment, gathering areas, a P-Patch for residents, and offers commanding views of the Olympic Mountains. Pocket parks along the site’s edges provide open space for residents and trail connections to the surrounding community and adjacent park.

Nakano Associates worked with local artists to incorporate artwork in the parks and among the housing units.
