Nakano Associates assisted Vancouver Housing Authority with the redesign of the outdoor environments at Plum Meadows, a housing development for families in Vancouver, Washington. Central to the renovated landscape is a new park that will create a meeting place and gathering space for families of the community. It will replace an underused promenade.
Play equipment and surfacing were selected to provide play opportunities for children and caregivers of all abilities. A large play mound with an embankment slide and rope climber will define the space and provide entertainment for all ages. The design meets strict sustainability standards for irrigation and use of northwest native and adaptive plants to the region.
